Paul Wengender
Chief Executive Officer & Director of Business Development

Paul Wengender is the Founder and CEO of Blue Sky. As CEO, Paul oversees all general and administrative business functions and leads Blue Sky's strategic business growth and client relations.
Paul has 16 years experience in the research-based drug discovery field. Prior to joining Blue Sky, he led a Pfizer Global Research & Development laboratory dedicated to biological reagent provision in the "gene to protein" space. In addition to his decade of technical and managerial experience at Pfizer, Paul spent two years at AstraZeneca (formerly Astra Research Center Boston) studying bacterial pathogen genetics and antigen profiling.
Most recently, Paul graduated with a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from Boston University. He also holds a Master of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University (where he completed a thesis on the genetics of the pathogen S. aureus) and a Bachelor of Science (cum laude) from SUNY Fredonia in Recombinant Gene Technology with independent studies on L. monocytogenes genotyping.
Paul is active within the scientific community. He is a member of The Protein Society, the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council’s marketing and finance committees and the Sino-American Pharmaceutical Association (SAPA). Paul has also participated in the MIT Enterprise Forum, Boston University Biotechnology Association, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Venture Forum and serves as a research advisor to WPI, Clark University, Holy Cross and Assumption College graduate and undergraduate students.
