Responsibilities
- Assay design (enzyme assays, bioassays, and molecular assays) and product validation efforts.
- Working closely with internal and external resources to critically evaluate new technology and protein product opportunities, including but not limited to template-directed assembly reagents.
- Developing data collection, documentation and reporting procedures. Generating SOPs, validation protocols, and technical reports.
- Generating methods for reagents testing, qualification, standardization, and validation of designed assays.
- Acting as a technical resource within the company for identification of technology that can be used in product testing and validation.
- Ensuring that viable and robust data is generated to make early determinations to evaluate product opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or relevant discipline, or M.S. with significant industrial experience and proven track record.
- Experience: Seven (7) to twelve (12) years of post-graduate experience with five (5) to ten (10) years of industrial experience in assay development and execution for validation of quantity, quality, and activity of enzymes, and evaluation of potency and dose-responses of compounds.
- Experience in mentoring a team of scientists/technicians.
- Experience in the development, validation, qualification and transfer of assay methodologies.
- Experience in maintaining and documenting large amounts of laboratory information, such as data, protocols, reagents, etc.
- Demonstrated broad scientific and technical assay development expertise in the field of biochemistry, including quantitative enzyme assays, inhibitor characterization, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, Western blot analysis, and SDS-PAGE.
- Demonstrated broad scientific and technical assay development expertise in the field of cell biology, including cell-based functional assays such as proliferation, apoptosis, cytotoxicity and cellular differentiation, reporter assays, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and quantitative imaging.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with scientists of different backgrounds and experience levels.
- Willingness to work in a demanding client-focused environment during hours outside standard work day and week, and from home when appropriate.
- Ability to prioritize and reprioritize activities as needed to accomplish unanticipated requests or initiate new projects requiring immediate attention.

Associate Scientist in Assay Development

- Participating in the development and validation of enzyme assays, bioassays, and molecular assays to support the development of products and services.

- Sample testing under GLP guidelines for animal and human studies, and review/reporting of scientific data generated.

Qualifications
- Education: B.S. in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Experience: Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant industry experience. Experience performing standard assay methodologies including radioactive filter-binding assays, HTRF, and luminescence (glow) assays is preferred. Knowledge of compound handling and inhibition studies is a plus.
- Ability to complete experiments and analytical assays in accordance with supervisor input or SOPs with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated broad scientific and technical assay development expertise in the field of biochemistry, including quantitative enzyme assays, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, Western blot analysis, SDS-PAGE and isoelectric focusing.
